On January 3, 2007, my brothers and I spent the afternoon driving around the Marin Headlands north of San Francisco. Amazing views of the Golden Gate and Pacific are there, as are WWI-era military bunkers which are perfect for exploring. Unfortunately, that day was pretty foggy, so we plan to go back on a sunny day for some better views.

Matt and I went on an exploring mission on Feb. 22, 2007. We took Mines Road to the valley behind Mt. Hamilton, and then took Del Puerto Canyon Road to the Central Valley. There was a storm there so we drove around in the lighting and got hailed on. The next day we went to Santa Cruz mountains to see what snow was left (not much) and ended up continuing on to Santa Cruz, and then took Highway 1 to Half Moon Bay. The storm from the day before meant that it was a very clear day.

On December 29, 2006, I went on a short day trip to Yosemite with my brothers and dad. It was still early in winter, so there was only a dusting of snow at the park, but we still got some neat views. It was also pretty cold.

Riveting. Exciting. These are just a couple of words that naturally come to mind when thinking about a talk titled "The CORDIC Algorithm: An Area-Efficient Technique for FPGA-Based Artificial Neural Networks." I successfully defended my Master's thesis of the same name on November 28, 2006. Riveting pictures were taken so that you can experience the action as if you were there in person.

I spent the weekend of 9/29 through 10/1 camping in a remote part of the Santa Cruz mountains. The site was part of Redwood Glen, a local Christian camp. There were 8 of on the trip, and we went to the beach, hiking, and played capture the flag at night. It was nice to camp in an area where there was no one else nearby. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere.
