I spent August 12 through 19 in Louisiana as part of a group of 14 from my church doing Hurricane Katrina relief work for the charity Operation Blessing in and around New Orleans. We spent Monday through Friday gutting houses that had been flooded. The work was hard, and conditions were bad (90° weather and 80% humidity), but everyone had a rewarding experience. There is still a lot of work to be done in the area, and many team members plan on returning again in the future.

From June 23 to July 1, I went with my church's youth group to Ensenada, Mexico to put on a VBS for a local church. The trip was organized through Azusa Pacific University, and we stayed at a camp they owned. We slept in tents and had chapel cervices before and after heading out to the local church.

On June 10, 2006, my church's college group went on a hike at Big Basin State Park. The hike was about 10 miles long and took us near 3 waterfalls.

Our second trip behind Mount Hamilton took us down Mines Road. This road connects the floor of the San Antonio Valley to Livermore. Much of the road has only one lane and is very sparsely populated.

On April 1, 2006, the second meeting of the Bay Area Explorers Society was held. My brothers Chris and Matt and I went up to Mt. Hamilton and down then into the San Antonio valley below and to the east of the mountain. None of us had ever really been back there before, and we hope to revisit the area soon.
