On December 27, 2007, my brothers and I went driving up to the Bay Area's local Mt. Umunhum. It is an abandoned Air Force site with many local legends surrounding the site. It is the location of a large cube building that can be seen from the valley floor, and its closed-off nature only adds to the mystery. We could not get all the way to the tip due to time and legal constraints.

I spent August 12 through 19 in Louisiana as part of a group of 14 from my church doing Hurricane Katrina relief work for the charity Operation Blessing in and around New Orleans. We spent Monday through Friday gutting houses that had been flooded. The work was hard, and conditions were bad (90° weather and 80% humidity), but everyone had a rewarding experience. There is still a lot of work to be done in the area, and many team members plan on returning again in the future.

On June 2, 2011, my friends Joel and Rebecca moved to North Carolina. They decided to drive and invited me along part of the way. We stopped at Las Vegas, the Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest National Park, and Petroglyph National Monument. I flew home from Albuquerque while they continued on to the east coast. It was a fun trip, and I was able to see a couple parks I hadn't visited before.

On Saturday, February 6, 2011, I visited Mount Tamalpais State Park with my brother. We drove to the 3 peaks and looked for a couple geocaches. The second geocache required a 3-mile out-and-back hike down into a canyon along a creek. The creek went over a number of cascades, creating many waterfalls. I also got to experience one of the best sunsets I've ever seen.

This is a collection of pictures from some things I did in the first part of 2008 that didn't really warrant an album of their own. I went on the Big Basin waterfall loop hike a couple of times and took some pictures of the waterfalls along the trail. In April, I worked with Jerry on painting "scfbc.org" on the roof of our church so next time satellite imagery is updated, people will know what they're looking at and where to go. On April 14, I went to Half Moon Bay with my brother and found a cool beach.

On April 5, 2010, I went with some of my friends to do our (now) annual 11-mile Big Basin waterfall loop hike. It had just rained the past week and into the day before, so there was more water there than any of us had seen before.

I spent October 16-22 of 2007 in Georgia to watch Matt graduate from his Army basic training (OSUT) at Ft. Benning Georgia. He turned blue (received his blue infantry cord on the 18th and graduated from training on the 19th. We spent the following weekend with him in Georgia. We went to the Infantry Museum on post at Ft. Benning, went to see where Jimmy Carter grew up in Plains, GA, and did some random driving around before dropping him off for Airborne School at 1800 on the 21st. Unfortunately, he was sick and was unable to start Airborne school.

I spent June 10 through 13 of 2008 on a road trip to pick up my brother from college in Cheney, WA. The total trip was just over 2,000 miles long, and we took our time to stop along the way. On the way up, I stopped at the Clarno unit of the John Day Fossil Beds, and we took US Highway 295 through Oregon's far eastern high desert to do some geocaching. Once back in California, we visited Castle Crags State Park and Lassen National Park. Not bad for four days on the road.

There is also a Google map of the route I took available: http://tinyurl.com/4o3mzd

I spent April 1-15, 2011 in Israel. I traveled with 6 other people from my church who in turn joined up with Calvary Chapel Petaluma and Coastline Fellowship in Astoria to tour Israel. In all, we visited over 50 sites in the country. Jane, our tour guide, has been guiding tours since 1971 and she was very knowledgeable about everything we saw. Every stop was accompanied by her giving us the history of the site. At most stops this history lesson was followed by worship and a teaching by one of the pastors of the churches organizing the trip.

I've broken up my photos based on the four regions of Israel we visited. These also correspond to the four hotels we stayed at.

On December 29, 2006, I went on a short day trip to Yosemite with my brothers and dad. It was still early in winter, so there was only a dusting of snow at the park, but we still got some neat views. It was also pretty cold.

I spent the weekend of August 24-26, 2007 in Pismo Beach with my church's college group on a retreat. We stayed in a rented house right on the beach near the pier. We played games, hiked Bishop's Peak, and had an overall good time. Joel from my church was the speaker.
